Bristol Holsteins reach 5500gns twice

A brace of entries sold for 5500gns at last week’s Autumn Breeders Sale at Bristol, with the first to make this money being Tregibby Shottle Cinderella from Richard Thomas. This one is by Picston Shottle and out of Ridgefield Goldwyn Cinderella, this year’s South West Dairy Show and Welsh Dairy Show champion. She was first prize heifer in calf at this year’s Welsh Dairy Show and sold having calved on 22 October. Buyer were the Baker family for the BB herd, Usk.

Second to trade at the top call was Moorshard Durham Ross Amanda, a Plain-O Durham Ross daughter out of Moorshard Roy Amanda. This October 2009-born heifer is from 11 generations of Ex and VG dams and sold to Peter Prior of Designer Holsteins, Essex.

At 4200gns was Holmead Shottle Pocohontis from Terry Cox. This Shottle daughter is out of an Ex91 dam in the form of Littlebredy Stormatic Pocohontis. Sold having calved eight days earlier, she went to Paul  Bradley for the Isle of Wight-based Crockers herd.

Then at 3100gns was Yardhayes Talent Carol, an ET bred daughter of Ladino Park Talent out of Llydan Dra Shark Carol. This October 2008-born heifer was AI’d in February to Regancrest-MR Samuelo, she sold to D A and C L Owens, Carmarthen. And making 3000gns was the best of the day from Roger and Diane Steeples, Cramar Goldwyn Belle. This Braedale Goldwyn daughter is out of Cramar Integrity Belle, an Ex 92 classified dam. She sold to T R Quick, Highbridge for the Mendip herd.

Averages; 17 cows and calved heifers ÂŁ2898, nine served heifers ÂŁ1762, 17 maiden heifers ÂŁ1866, one bull ÂŁ1102 (Norton and Brooksbank).
