It was success for father-and-son duo at this week’s Skipton calf show which saw Peter Sowary and son George take the champion title and top bid of the day of £340 with a British Blue cross calf.
The Genus-sired youngster, out of a Sowray Holstein Friesian cow headed home with Derek Taylor, Ripon. The Sowray’s then went on to present the second prize British Blue cross bull calf and reserve champion, which also sold for the next highest price of £335.
The Sowary’s are no stranger to the showing scene, after bagging the champion title at February’s inaugural BOCM Pauls sponsored calf show. Therefore it was know surprise they were also responsible for the first and third prize Limousin heifer calves at this weeks show and sale, which made £318 and £225 respectively, along with the first prize Continentals class winner, a Charolais bull calf which sold for £315.
