Browes tops at Skipton suckler breeding show

Taking the suckler championship at Skipton’s suckler breeding day on Wednesday was a Limousin-cross cow with a Limousin heifer calf at foot from Ken Browes, Clough Head, Sutton-in-Craven, Keighley, at a show and sale of breeding cattle with calves at foot, which ran alongside Skipton Auction Mart’s Spring Pedigree Event.

skiptonsucklerBLOG.jpgThe second calver, bought two years ago at Skipton, and her two-month-old suckler calf, sold for £1160 to John Butler, of Rochdale. The runner-up, from F Reeday & Sons, of Hetton, also hit four figures selling for £1100 to Matt Townsend, of Laneshawbridge, though it was the third placed mother and calf from R Holmes, of Keighley, which made top price in class at £1180, secured by Grain Farms Ltd, of Hebden.

Top price of the day at £2000 came from F Reeday & Sons for a pure-bred Limousin heifer with Limousin bull calf at foot, bought by John Beresford, of Chapel-le-Dale.
