Brown Swiss cross cows sold a peak of 1600gns twice at the dispersal of Willet herd of Holstein and Brown Swiss last week.
On a day that saw more than 200 cows and 140 youngstock come under the hammer Mark Northcott of auctioneers Symonds and Sampson reports buyers in attendance from eight counties all of whom were keen to buy quality cattle. A pair of third lactation cows topped the trade with many other cows selling at close to this level.
“Brown Swiss cross youngstock were also in demand, with baby heifer calves selling to 200gns. This illustrates the strong demand still being seen for quality dairy cattle of all ages.”
