Bull leads Border and Lakeland dairy sale

Last week’s Border and Lakeland Holstein Club sale at Carlisle saw a top price of 2900gns paid for a young Friesian type bull from John Harrison, Wickerfield, Penrith. He sold to Messrs Vevers, High Plains and is sired by homebred bull Wickerfield Black Knight.

Top priced female was Warnelview Outside Bunty 3 at 2600gns. She was one of a consignment of seven heifers from Kevin and Christine Wilson, Thursby. At 2500gns was a heifer from the Chappelhow family. She is Pennview Ice Pack and sold to a buyer from Bute.

Also at this price was one from Robert Steels highly regarded Kepculloch herd, Loch Lomond. This daughter of Mr Minister from a Dixie Lee Aaron cow sold to Messrs Hewson Bros, Carlisle.

Averages;  two bulls £2152.50, three cows £2037, 28 heifers £2121.75 (Harrison and Hetherington).
