Burry Texels top at 2100gns

Saturday’s production sale at Worcester from the Burry Texel flock for Messrs Austin, Gower, hit a peak of 2100gns for a three year old Glenside ewe by Castlecairn L A Lover which sold back to her breeder, John Forsyth, Maybole, Ayrshire.

Next best call of 1500gns went for another bred at Glenside, a two year old daughter of Baileys Money Maker which was knocked down to D P Davies and Sons, Uffington, Shrewsbury.

And Glenside breeding was also behind the third top call when a two year old ewe by Muiresk Forever sold to E R Pritchard, Craven Arms, Shropshire. Mr Pritchard also took the top priced ewe lamb at 300gns. This was a daughter of Logie Durno Odds-On.

Top priced ram lamb on the day was a 540gns sale for a lamb by Millars Olympian out of a Claybury Millreef daughter which sold to M H Reed, Umberleigh, Devon.

Averages; 48 breeding ewes £457.41, 14 shearling ewes £255.75, 10 ewe lambs £191.10, seven shearling rams £283.50, four ram lambs £304.50 (McCartneys).
