Calves set the pace at Gisburn

A run of 13 calves from Joylan Farms, Preston set the pace at Gisburn Auction Mart
with blue bulls from the farm selling to £480 and the overall top price heifer of the day at £412.

Leading calf trade however, at £495 were JR and MI Berry, Waddington, Clitheroe and R and LA Briggs, Crawshawbooth.

Heifer calves, particularly Blues, Simmentals and Limousins were in much demand, with named sire Aberdeen Angus and Herefords also selling well. A pen full of Herefords from J and CG Redmayne, Samlesbury, Preston achieved in excess of £300 for both bulls and heifers.

A lively six month old Limousin x heifer stirk from Brian Nutter, Sabden sold for the top price of the day of £770.
