Carlisle beef breeding trade is red hot

Prices for beef breeding cattle were strong at last Friday’s sale of beef breeding cattle at Carlisle with in calf heifers selling to a top of £1320 twice for British Blue and Limousin crosses from N and O Pattinson, the Flatt, Great Orton.

British Blue cross heifers from Messrs Reeday and Son, Manor Farm, Skipton, sold to £1280, while the top price of the day went to a Limousin cow and calf outfit which made £2150 for R Stevenson, Howgill Foot, Kaber. Calved heifers sold to £1900 from Messrs C J and A J Owen, Keld.
