Carlisle Beltex females hit 1100gns top call

Beltex females were met with a strong steady trade at Carlisle last Friday when the breed held its premier sale of in-lamb females.

Taking the joint top call of 1100gns was Allan Jackson, with Headlind Masa, a daughter of Phenomenal V/H Groentenhof. Out of a Southholm-bred dam this one has sisters which have sold to 2000gns and sold in lamb to Headlind Nibby, a Phenomenal son. She sold to D P Currie, Beautry House, Settle.

(hutch)bx339s.jpgSecond to make this money was John Metcalfe with a daughter of Airyolland Hannibal, Edenfield Magic, This one is out of Dun-Mor Hatty and was AI’d to Airyolland King of Clubs. She was bought by B and K Wharf, Thropton, Morpeth.

(hutch)bx343s.jpgTwo also sold at the next top price of 1000gns, the first being an aged ewe from Allan Jackson. This was Headlind Lolly Pop, a pure Belgian bred ewe. Sired by The Sub – Herkul V/D Vosseberg, she was AI’s to Duke of Flanders and sold to T Linton, Pettinain, Lanark.

Horseclose Miss Molly is a Digga’s Jeep daughter and out of Horseclose Kite, a Cookstown Hamish daughter. Sold in lamb to Cree Mark, she was bought by L Whitaker and C Thompson, Kirkby in Furness.

Averages; three aged ewes £329, 31 shearling ewes £632.04, 16 ewe lambs £415.41 (Harrison and Hetherington).
