Carlisle Bluefaces topping at 4200gns so far

Today’s sale of Bluefaced Leicesters at Carlisle has certainly drawn a big crowd and a few big prices too, with trade hitting 4200gns, so far.

bfl ring jan 2010.jpgTaking this top call was the best of the day from the reduction of John Smith Jackson’s Shafthill flock. This one was Shafthill Z022, a daughter of Shafthill S25 out of a dam by Hewgill P3. She was sold carrying triplets to Highberries B3 due in March. She sold to S Laverty, Ballymoney, Northern Ireland.

BFL Lot 31.JPGAt 3200gns was Shafthill A028, a Shafthill Y8 daughter out of another P3 daughter. She was sold carrying twins to Shafhill Z21. This one sold in a two way split to G E Carter and Son, Longtown, and Messrs Bell and Copeland, Newcastleton.

BFL Lot 28.JPGAnd a brace made 2000gns. First of these was Shafhill S44, a P3 daughter out of a dam by Shafthill J14 and sold carrrying a single by Highberries B3. This one is dam of both the 4200gns and 3200gns ewes. This one sold to the Skidmore family, North Hanging Wells.

The other at this money was Shafthill A026, a Shafthill W1 daughter out of a dam by Shafthill P1 and carrying twins by B3. She also headed back to North Hanging Wells with the Skidmores.
