Beef breeding cattle trade at Carlisle last Friday was strong with quality commercial outfits easier to sell, report the auctioneers.
Topping the trade was a British Blue heifer with her calf at foot from Messrs Dickinson, High Knipe, which sold at £2200, while best among the cows and calves on offer was a £2150 call for a Limousin cow with calf at foot from Messrs Little, Mayfield.
Messrs Dickinson also sold other British Blue cross heifers with calves at £2100 and £1880, while Mark Towers, Colt Park, sold similarly bred outfits to top at £1950. Limousin cross heifers peaked at £1880 for Messrs Dickinson, with Mr Towers close behind at £1850.
Best among the in-calf heifers was an £1120 call for a Limousin sired entry. (Harrison and Hetherington).
