Carlisle British Blue headlines

Today’s sale of British Blue bulls and females at Carlisle has sold to a peak of 6900gns for Harestone Excalibre, an Empire D’Ochain son out of Woodview Whitney, an Affute Du Ry Ossogne daughter. He sold with a carcass index of +15 to leading show calf producer Smallburn Farms, Elgin.

Following that at 5500gns was Tweedale Energiser from Messrs Redhead and Watson. This is by Bringlee Blackstar and out of Clarebrand Bertha, a Dundrod Rastus daughter. With an index of just +3 he was bought by Messrs McCosh Brothers, Biggar.

And then at 5400gns was Black N Blue Emperor, an Empire D’Ochain son out of Black N Blue UK.Com, a Serum D’Anloy daughter. With an index of +20 he sold to T Bean and Son, Consett.

A pair then made 5100gns, the first being Newclose Daz from Messrs Wilson. This is a Mountjoy Utopia son out of Hazelwood Tinkerbell, a Hazelwood Jake daughter. He has been selected under the young bull scheme by EBLEX and went home with Richard Carter for the Twyning Ash herd, Dursley.

Second at this prize was Clougher Email from Zara Chestnutt. Sired by Springbank Blackstar and out of Clougher Wendy, this was male champion and reserve Blue at Balmoral. Buying this one were J J and H H Thomas, Montgomery.

And making 4900gns was Tamhorn Electrifying from the Wyllies. He is by Ballygrange Alex and out of Tamhorn Wee Daisy, a Cristal De Somme daughter. He was taken by Lowesby Farms, Leicestershire.

Females were led at 5000gns by Lyonpark Evelien, a February 2009-born Gitan Du P’Tit Mayeur daughter. Buyer of this was H Cockburn and Partners.
