Carmarthen dairy trade sets new record at £3600
Dairy cattle trade continues to exceed all previous records at Carmarthen, with a top price of £3600 achieved at yesterday’s sale. Topping the trade was Churchvale Sam Starmaiden 2, a VG86 rated cow from Richard and Bethan Thomas. This one is by Regancrest M Drham Sam and sold to the Rhydygors herd, Talog, giving 30kg a day.
Also breaking the £3000 limit was Lyganlan Erica 96 a Comestar Stormatic daughter and out of two generations of EX ranked dams. Giving 32kg a day she sold to E Rees, Whitland.
Another from Churchvale, this time a Weeton Jackson daughter, Churchvale Jackson Rosina, sold at £2420. This one calved in December and was sold to Messrs Rees, Rhos, Efailwen giving 28kg a day.
R Maskell and Partners sold two above £2000 with Guest Fanella 298 making £2250, while Gest Dewdrop 159 sold for £2200.
Averages; two commercial cows £1755, 8 commercial heifers £1520, 9 recorded cows £1615, 21 recorded heifers £2013 (BJP Marts).
