Champion bags top price at Craven Cattle Marts

Returning champion winner Robin Jennings not only took top spot in classes at Craven Cattle Marts early August sale but also bagged the top price of £2000 . The freshly calved Holstein Friesian by their home-bred former dairy bull Stainbank Oxygen, was sold giving 33 litres to Geoff Blezzard, Ribchester.

 

CCM Craven Dairy Auction Aug - Jennings champ solo pic.jpgMr Blezzard then went on to purchase another Jennings entry, the third prize freshly calved heifer, a 27 litres daughter of Penn-England Garrison, along with £1460 for the first prize fresh calved cow from Derek Wells, Bradford.

 

The next best price of £1580 and £1490 was then paid for the fisrt and second [prize in-cal ehifers, both exhibited by Alan Simpson, York and snapped up by Wick Williams, Nantwich. He then went on to purchase the reserve champion from Peter Baul for £1450.

 

Maiden heifers also met a fair trade with the class leader levelling at £770. Consinged by Robert Metcalfe, Harrogate, this one headed home with Robert Johnson, Felliscliffe. Johnny Metcalfe also sold two maiden heifers for £750 and £680 to Simon Spensley, Gargrave.
