Charolais bulls sell to 8000gns at Dungannon

An 8000gns bid for the junior male champion from the pre-sale show at Monday’s Dungannon show and sale of Charolais bulls was the highlight of the trade which saw 19 bulls level at £2564.

The sale topper, Corcreevly Dingle is a 13 month old son of Domino out of a homebred cow from Desmond Orr’s Corcreevly herd, Fivemiletown, Co Tyrone. He goes back to Allanfauld Vagabond on his dam’s side and sold in a two way split to Gilbert Crawford, Maghera, and Noel McCrae, Coagh.

There was then a sharp drop off in trade with the next highest call being a 3500gns sale for 17 month old Corrick Domino from Cecil McIwaine, Newtownstewart. This Doonally New son is out a dam by Roundhill Ohoh and sold to B McLean, Armoy, Co Antrim.

A brace then sold at 3100gns, the first of which was Desmond McAskie’s Mountjoy Denver, a Balmyle Vagabond son. He sold to Sean McGrath. The other at this level was Tandaragee Dynamite, a Pirate son out of a homebred dam by Hollywell Untouchable. He sold to Nigel Matchett, Portadown.

At 2800gns was the reserve junior male champion, Beechdale Dander from Gregor Donnelly, Ardmore. This Maghermore Ulster son is out of a homebred dam and sold to P Murphy, Newry.

Female trade was led by three 2700gns sales, the first being for the reserve female champion, Mountjoy Cyan from Desmond McAskie. She is by Mozart and sold to A Ellison, Fivemiletown.

The second best was a 2600gns bid for Castlenure Cis, a Pirate daughter from T P Stewart, Omagh. She went to Joe Hughes, Dungannon.

Averages; 19 bulls £2564, eight females £1988 (Dungannon Farmers Mart).
