Charolais dominate Thainstone trade

Some 1700 animals made the trip to Thainstone last Friday as the 2008 farming year got off to a flying start at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ annual anniversary show and sale.

With the overall champion selling for £1000 and the reserve champion achieving £850, trade was brisk.

Judge Philip Simmers, Backmuir, Keith placed as his overall champion and home bred champion a 660kg Charolais cross steer from Andrew Anderson, Smallburn Farms Ltd, Mayne Farm, Elgin, which he bought for £1000.
