Charollais ewes sell to 1800gns at Sedgemoor

Saturday’s sale of Charollais females at Sedgemoor was led at 1800gns twice by ewes from the dispersal of the Trevadlock flock of Eric and James Sleep, Launceston, Cornwall.

First to sell at the top money was a 2007-born ewe by Shipley Debonair. This one is out of a dam by Carnevas Ascender and sold in lamb with a single to Foulrice Informer. She sold to Adrian Davies, Llandeilo.

The second transaction at this price came when R J Tindall, West Yorkshire, secured another of the 2007-born flock ewes. This one was a daughter of Foxhill Farm Gremlin and has Castellau, Lowereye, Blythe and Bould breeding behind her.

Then selling at the next best call of 1050gns was another from the Sleeps, a 2008-born daughter ewe in-lamb with twins. Sired by the Gremlin tup and bred from Dalby lines, this one went home with Messr Morgan and Co, Hereford.

Next best at 1000gns was another of the 2008 crop, a Tredethy Great Boy daughter scanned with a pair. She also sold to Messrs Morgan.

Yet another 2008-born ewe then sold at 1000gns, this was again by Shipley Debonair and carries breeding back to Penywern Bond. She was bought by R A Owen, Powys. Also at this price was a Rockvilla Globe Trotter daugher. This one with Logie Durno, Rutland and Foulrice breeding in her pedigree sold to Mr Tindall.

Best of the rest on offer was a 720gns bid for one from Louise Brewer’s Carnevas flock. Her topper was by Parkgate Honoured Guest and sold to P Tully, Bridgewater.
