Charollais secures supreme sheep title at Newark and Notts

Well judging has kicked off and taking the supreme championship in the sheep rings was a Charollais ewe from David Wheatley, Doncaster and owned in partnership with Charles Sercome’s children Victoria, William and Grace Sercombe.

 

This two year old ewe is by Rockvilla Father Ted and out of Rutland Lightening who has been interbreed champion in Leicester. This one will likely head to East of England and Lincoln show next.

This is the first time there has been a Leicester Longwool class at Newark and Notts and judge Gordon Gray, Selkirk said it was a “well turned out animals with a bit of presence”.

Commenting on the champion Mr Gray who is also president of the Texel Sheep Society said: “the Charollais was correct all over, had an excellent handler and a lot of character”.
