He said: “She is full of milk, with a great head and neck. To me, the Jersey is a handy winner.”

Classified Ex92, this homebred cow, Fourcrosses Bamber Bambi is by Brook Bomber and out of Dbz Bambi. She is one of 200 pedigree Jerseys owned by the family and is currently giving 32 litres a day in herd third lactation. She gave 8,000 litres in her last and is in-calf to Griffins Governor. She was handled in the ring and prepared by Isobel Wright.

Bambi has already won exhibitor bred interbreed champion at the Stafford Show this year and may be heading to September’s Dairy Event and Livestock Show.

For his reserve spot, Mr Gribbon was torn between the Ayrshire and Holstein, but in the end the Holstein pipped the Ayshire to the post because ‘she had that bit more milk and was clearer in the hock.’

In her second lactation, Sunbeam is giving 65 litres a day and has only been shown once as a heifer at the National All Breed Show. She may now be heading to the Nantwich Show.
