Clary tups lift Carlisle Beltex trade
Jock McMillan’s Clary pen of Beltex shearlings have set the trade going a little better here in Carlisle, with a 4500gns bid securing Clary Phantom, a Borderesk Leap Frog son out of Clary Kinswomen, a Cookstown Hamish daughter. At 4000gns was Clary Profitable, a Corstane Mighty Max son out of Claru Loopy, a Clary Kaiser Chief daughter. And taking a 1500gns bid was Clary Pro, a Kaiser Chief son out of Clary Knick Knock, a Corstane Coulter daughter.Elsewhere Gavin Shanks sold at 2000gns for Inveresk Port Gorey, an Artnagullion Lionheart son out of Inveresk Jo Jo, a Tullygarley Elite daughter.
And at 2500gns was Thimbleby Platinum, a Glenkeen Mahock son out of Broughton Madeliene, an Airyolland Kingsize daughter.
Selling for 3200gns was Andys Panther from Andy Ryder. This Mustang son is out of Brickrow Hot Pants, a Glebe Equity daughter.A 2200gns bid took Avondale Prince from Messrs Cunningham. This Llwynbrain Nelson son is out of Walkerdyke Jean, an Inveresk Headline News daughter.
A few lots later and from the same home Avondale Percy sold at 3000gns. He’s by the same sire and out of Walkerdyke Joy, a Garrion Hamlet daughter.
The surprise of the day no doubt came when a 8000gns bid was turned down for Loandhu Percy Pig, the Royal Highland Show champion from Messrs Young.
Overall the trade has been less electric than might have been expected following the ram lamb sale last night. But there are plenty of good pens of sheep to come yet, so I’ve no doubt the trade will lift again..
