Cottewold Simmental herd dispersal tops at 4,600gns
Bidding peaked at 4,600gns at the on-farm dispersal of Messrs DC and RJ Fisher’s Cotteswold pedigree Simmental, Cheltenham, Gloucester, this week (14 Jan).
Sale leader was the June 2011 born stock bull Sterling Cannon. Sired by Darsham Playboy he is out of Sterling Eleanor’s Koral and has a TSI of +50 and an SRI of +. He was purchased by AP Moore and Co, Nr Rugeley, Staffordshire.
Leading prices for cow and calf outfits was the four-year-old cow Cotteswold Anthia. Sired by Crackley Statesman she is out of the Sterling Lucas daughter Cotteswold Susan. She sold to C Tucker, Edgcott, Bucks, with a TSI of +61 and an SRI of +69.
Her 10-month-old heifer calf Cotteswold Eloise made 990gns when selling to F Connon, Moffat, Dumfriesshire.
Next best at 2,850gns was her sire Starline Ardross. Sired by Starline Veto he is out of Starline Gina and has an SRI of +53 and a TSI of +52. Buyer was C Tucker, Edgcott, Bucks.
Next joint leading price was 2,720gns for another cow and calf outfit. The Crackley Statesman daughter Cotteswold Bonney, out of Cotteswold Verity, and with a TSI of +58 and SRI of +63 made 1,600gns when selling to C Tucker.
Her 10-month-old Starline Ardross heifer Cotteswold Eleanor calf sold to F Connon for 1,120gns.
Commercial cattle topped at 1,820gns for a Simmental x cow by Cotteswold Sergeant Major. Buyer was R Carlton, Dunchurch, Rugby.
Averages: 30 cows and heifers serviced/suckling, £2,182.95; eight in-calf heifers, £1,880.82; two stock bulls, £3,911.25; two young bulls, £2,283.75; 25 pure-bred cows and heifers, £1,457.82.
