Croftlands Jerseys hit 2500gns peak

Yesterday’s dispersal of the Croftlands Jersey herd on behalf of Messrs Hughes saw trade hit a peak of 2500gns for the 107 head on offer under the gavel of Glyn Lucas, Harrison and Hetherington.

Leading the trade was Croftlands Explosion Leanne, a November 2006-born first calver by Grayside Explosion and out of Danish CI Cameron Dijhb. She sold to H Buchannan and Son, Ballantrae, Girvan, having been AI’d to Senn-Sational Paramount Ace in January.

Next best at 2300gns was Croftlands Sultan Ribena, a May 2007-born heifer which calved for the first time on 2 July. By SHF Centurion Sultan and out of Gaddesden Ribena 2, she was sold with a PLI of +76 to J Duckworth, Kilmaurs, Kilmarnock.

At 1900 was a maternal sister to the dearest lot of the day, Croftlands Zeebar July. This July 2005-born second calver is by Shellen Zeebar and sold having calved in June to J and I Watson and Son, Moorhouse Farm, Wigton.

Mr Duckworth was back in spending mood to secure the next at 1620gns. His pick second pick was Croftlands Zeebars Susan. This March 2006-born entry is by Shellen Zeebar and out of Croftlands Hots Susan and sold having been AI’d in October to Wilderness Blueprint.

And at 1550gns was Croftlands Escalade Fern, a March 2005-born daughter of Ferreira Mannix Escalade. This one is out of Danish CI Fern  Dijhb and sold having calved in June to R V Mandale and Son, Raughton Head, Carlisle.

A brace then sold at 1500gns with both going home with J E Gorst, Warwick Bridge, Carlisle. The first at this money was Croftlands Berlest Gwen, a March 2004-born daughter of Kaarmona Berlest which calved in April.

She’s out of Danish CI Gwen Dijhb and a Danish dam was behind the other at this level too, Croftlands Berlests Linda. Again by Kaarmona Berlest, she was born in March 20055 and calved in May this year.
