Dairy Event 2010: Rodenticide kills in one dose
Rat and mouse control could now be easier thanks to a rodenticide which delivers a lethal dose in a single feed.
The single-feed anticoagulant, Storm Secure claims to be the industry’s most potent rat killer.
Storm Secure contains 0.0005% flocoumafen in a waxed crushed grain bait block which is highly palatable by both rats and mice and is durable under challenging weather conditions.
Storm Secure is restricted to indoor use, said BASF Pest Control Solutions’ Martina Flynn speaking at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show. “This means it should only be used tactically to complement outdoor baiting with mainstream multi-feed rodenticides where extra assistance is required.”
The product costs more for every kilo than multi-feed, however, its greater power means it can be employed in pulse baiting programmes that require less bait and fewer visits than traditional regimes, said Ms Flynn. “This means it can give worthwhile savings in the amount of bait needed and the time required for baiting.”
