Dairy trade tops £3,100 at Holsworthy

The twentieth annual dairy evening show and sale of dairy cattle saw a large crowd fill the dairy shed for what was the last ever dairy evening sale to be held at Holsworthy. Buyers travelled from Carmarthen, Somerset and all over Devon and Cornwall to ensure an exceptional trade from start to finish with 28 selling over £2000.

Top of the day was £3,100 which fittingly went to the first prize heifer and overall show champion from Messrs Wills Bros of Wadebridge with “Willsbro Shottle G Vaakje” an outstanding daughter of Picston Shottle, she sold giving 44Kgs to judge John Daw of Crediton for his Lapford herd.

The same buyer paid £2600 for “Willsbro B T Roxy” a heifer sired by Klassic Big Time out of the renowned Roxy family again. The top priced cow of the evening also from the Wills family sold at £2600 for “Willsbro Desire Bluebell” a second calver by homebred sire Willsbro Desire, a son of Gillette Final Cut and she sold to Sian & Audrey Davies of Carmarthen.  The same buyer paid £2400 for the second prize cow “Hollafrench Dolman Rosa 10 VG86” a second calver sired by Regancrest Dolman from Phillip and Ann Jose of North Tamerton.
