Alkalage production breaks records

Alkalage production this summer has broken all records to the point all available Home n’ Dry preservative was sold out by the end of August.

For comparison cost a tonne of protein for Alkalage is £527 compared to maize at £777. Alkalage has also grown because it eliminates in silo losses, it actively improves rumen performance and feed intake by its buffering effect. It also has a wider harvesting window, and is harvested before housing milking cows.

The flexibility of alkalage means it can also be made from winter or spring sown crops according to farm requirements and fits more easily with re-seeding programmes and crop rotation. It is can also been grown on marginal sites where maize can’t be grown and is stable in the clamp.
