Dairy farm donated to charity
A Surrey dairy producer has given her farm to charity in the hope that it will be saved for future generations.
Josephine Baker donated her farm to the Countryside Restoration Trust. The holding includes three cottages, mixed woodland and 60 Jersey cows.
Situated between Frensham and Tilford, the 80 hectare (200 acre) unit is one of the last dairy farms in Surrey.
Michael Clear, the new farm tenant, has moved into Pierrepont Farm with his wife Beverly, and their two young children.
CRT chairman Robin Page said: “It is an incredibly generous gift from Jo Baker and we are going to do our best to help Michael run the farm at a profit.”
The aim was to preserve the wildlife on the farm while producing good milk that people would want to buy.
