Top milk producer
Devon dairy producer John Pyne’s herd has topped the National Milk Records ranking for both production and genetics for the year ending Sept 2005 ahead of entries from both Moet and Grosvenor Farms.
Ranked fifth last year, the 39 qualifying lactations at Mr Pyne’s herd based at Clyst St Mary averaged 12,018kg of milk and 899kg of fat and protein (up 39kg).
On the breeding front PIN was recorded at ÂŁ50 – ÂŁ12 ahead of Moet and ÂŁ14 ahead of Grosvenor’s Hatton Heath unit, reports NMR.
