EBV workshops for Scottish beef producers

Scottish beef farmers are being invited to a series of practical workshops on estimated breeding values (EBVs) in the run up to the bull sales next month.

Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) and the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) are hosting a series of practical workshops – ‘Understanding Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs)’ – to help producers gain a better understanding of EBVs and how to select bull for specific purposes on the farm.

SAC beef specialist Gavin Hill said: “The workshops will allow active participation and will offer practical help to producers wanting to improve their ability to use EBVs.

“I would urge any producer thinking of buying a breeding bull, whether it is for maternal or terminal use, to contact the relevant SAC office and book a place at these workshops.”
