Ellerdine dispersal hits 2700gns at Beeston

After a lifetime of milking cows, David Harris decided to disperse his highly respected Ellerdine Herd of pedigree Jerseys. The Ellerdine Herd has been to the fore of the breed for many years and has bred many great individuals including the reigning Royal Show Champion, Ellerdine Lester Amberlight 2 owned by Smiddiehill Jerseys.

The top price of 2700gns was achieved for Ellerdine Midnight Crystal, a young dry cow sired by Giprat B Midnight Thunder bred from three generations of VG/Ex dams who was due in September to Family Hill Avery Signature. She was purchased in a three way split between specialist cattle fitters Cameron Baty and Steve McLaughlan and Liz Tomlinson of Bilsborrow, Preston.

She has two VG dams with first dam being a full sister to this year’s Royal Show Champion and now joins Mark Davies’ herd at Tiverton for 2100gns.
