Females lead the Beltex trade at Chelford

Leading last week’s Beltex sale at Chelford was a 1600gns sale for the female champion from John Barclay. This was a shearling ewe, Beachy Push the Button, a Corstane Mighty Max daughter out of a Tullygarley Elite daughter. She headed home with D E Owen, Conwy.

Then selling at 1120gns was a shearling ewe from Jock McMillan. This was Clary Pamper, another Mighty Max daughter out of a Beachy Jack The Lad daughter. She sold to Messrs Staveley, Clapham.

Topping the males on offer was a 950gns sale for the male champion from the pre-sale show, Beachy Ringleader, again from John Barclay. This one is by a Bishops sire and out of a dam by Cookstown Leo 7 and sold to H C Jewitt, Durham.

And leading the shearling tups was David Thornley with a 900gns sale for Dooley Pepper, a son of The Sub which sold to C Hull, Oswaldtwistle.

A pair then sold at 850gns, with the first being a Burnside Mighty Max son out of a Luggsmill Jethro daughter which sold to P W Jones, Montgomery. The other at this price was one from Les and Sian Hewitt, Penyffordd, Chester, which sold to G Titterton, Milwich, Stafford.

Averages; 32 shearling rams £509.25, 36 ram lambs £390, 42 shearling ewes £456.60, 26 ewe lambs £413 (Marshalls).
