Flowston Holstein sale sees 2900gns top price

A total of 40 buyers were recorded at Tuesday’s dispersal of the Flowston herd of Holsteins for G G Stevenson and Son, following the family’s decision to cease milking and concentrate on other enterprises.

Topping the sale was a 2900gns call for Flowston Lantz Nora an Ex90 rated daughter of Bilsrow Lantz which has given more than 10,000 litres in two lactations and is due again to Shottle in early August. She sold to J T and M Crowther and Son for their Trailton herd at Lockerbie.

Then at 2500gns was Flowston Pintail Loretta, a VG88 classified daughter of Moet Pintail out of Flowston Loretta 4, a Comestar Leader daughter. She also travelled to Lockerbie with Messrs Crowther, one of 17 lots they bought on the day.

A 2400gns sale saw Richard and Heather Thompson claim Flowston Indro Breeze, another Ex90 classified entry. This one, by Riglio Juror Indro, is out of Flowston Breeze, a Hanoverhill Inspiration daughter. She gave 11,400kg in her fourth lactation and last calved in March this year.

Messrs Crowther were back in the bidding at 2250gns, taking home July 2006 born Flowston Tryst Muriel. This one is by Moet Trystar and out of Flowston Wal Muriel, an Etazone Wallace daughter.

And at 2200gns was the highest priced purchase for the day’s largest volume buyer, D H Pritchard, Hereford. Buying for his Nordanbroad herd Mr Pritchard took home a total of 25 lots . His dearest buy was Flowston Shottle Agnes, a Picston Shottle daughter out of Flowston Vi Agnes this one was born in June 2005 and is rated GP82.

Averages; 142 cows and calved heifers £1380, 10 served heifers £1470, 32 maiden heifers £870 (Norton and Brooksbank).
