Flying trade at Corsewall Jersey dispersal

The dispersal of the Hall family’s Corsewall Jersey Herd based at Knockneen Farm, Kirkholm, Stranraer saw a brisk trade top at 2,100gns with the milking herd averaging almost £1,000.

Topping the trade was a daughter of Clydevalley Fortune she was due shortly with her second and sold for 2,00gns to Richardson Family, Dovecote Farm, Doncaster.

A freshly calved heifer that caught the eye of the showing fraternity sold for 2,000gns to Emma Murry, Shipley Bank Farm, Wolverhampton. The heifer was sired by Hailstone Walkabout from a Whistler dam.

Such was the quality of the younger portion of the milking herd that a number sold for 1,800gns. Corsewall Gold Shortbread, Corsewall Gold Cream & Corsewall Walkabout Marzipan had all recently calved in August in their second or first lactations and now join the herd of WJF Ramsay, Mid Muntloch Farm, Wigtownshire.

Corsewall Fortune Cobnut sired by Clydevalley Fortune sold for 1,800gns to T Wilson, Creca Hall, Annan. Cobnut was fresh in her second giving 24kgs.

Burthwaite Farms, Carlisle purchased number top quality animals on the day including Corsewall Hulk Emily 2. She was sired by a son of DJ Hulk and was due shortly with her second she also sold for 1,800gns.

Other volume buyers included J Rome, Ingleston Farm, Dumfries who purchased the largest percentage of the herd for his new Jersey enterprise. One of the stars in the group was a fresh milking heifer sired by Hailstone Walkabout sold giving 19kg at 1,500gns.

Cleddau Farming from Haverdfordwest, Pembrokshire purchased the largest percentage of the youngstock for their new start up dairy enterprise. Their purchases included a strong spring calving heifer sired by Corsewall Sonnyboy selling for 1,000gns.
