Fresh cows in demand at Sedgemoor

Fresh calved cows capable of putting plenty of milk in the tank now were the highlight of the dispersal of J A Nixon’s Friesian herd at Sedgemoor Auction Centre last week, according to Greenslade Taylor Hunt.

Leading the way was a bid of 1800gns for 2 October calved cow by Catlane Metropolis which was giving 26.8kg on the day with an SCC of 31.

Another October calved cow bred similarly sold at 1700gns, while the best among the calved heifers was a 1780gns call for a daughter of Dovea Sem that calved in September and was out of dam giving more than 9000 litres.
