Galloways sell steadily at Carlisle

Trade for Galloways at Carlisle last Friday was steady, with the top price of 1450gns paid for a heifer, Scottish Queen 152 of Miefield from W McMorran. This daughter of Youth of High Creoch out of a dam by Craigmuie Seattle sold with her Blue Grey heifer calf at foot to R H and J R Little, Bewcastle.

Then at 1350gns was another of the heifers, Scottish Queen 144 of Miefield from the same vendor. This one is again by Youth of High Creoch and out of a dam by Craigmuie Seattle and sold with a Blue Grey heifer calf at foot to J and M Walker, Langholm.

The best of the bulls on offer, Roan Border Callum from P Jackson sold at 1200gns. This Councillor of Nether Rusko son out of Roan Border Rose, a Huntly Director daughter, sold to D Moffat and Sons, Moffat.

Also at this level were a brace of heifers. The first being Nova 62 of Miefield from W McMorran. Again by Youth of High Creoch and this time out of a dam by Highlight 2 of Romesbeoch, she sold with a Blue Grey heifer calf at foot to A and A Hogg, Langholm. The second was Kathleen 700107 of Ardoch from G J Kyle. This General of Corrie son out of Kathleen 154 of Ardoch sold with a Blue Grey calf at foot to J and M Dodd, Brampton.

Averages; 1 bull £1260, 30 heifers in calf or in milk £995.88, two pedigree cows in calf or in milk £708.75, 19 bulling heifers £705.28 (Harrison and Hetherington).
