Gisburn pedigree dairy day tops at £2580

Top price and reserve champion award at Gisburn Auction Marts’ pedigree dairy cattle show and sale last week went to a Whytil Brandy Elizabeth 321 from J and M Singleton, Goosnargh, Preston.

Sired by Weeton Brandy, this fresh calved heifer giving 27 kgs sold for £2580 to N W and J M Coulthurst and Son, Preston, Lancs. The same buyer also took home the champion, a Ladino Park Talent bred heifer again from Messrs Singleton, this time selling at £2520.

Longridge breeder Simon Thompson had a successful day when his two fresh calved heifers Affetside Ella 73 and Affetside Frances 17, both sired by Comestar Outside, sold for £2560 and £2040, respectively to producer retailer Tom Pickup, Entwistle, Bolton, Lancs.

R L and M S Mares, Darwen, Lancs, sold Blacksnape Jordan Hope sold for £2120 to J and M M Walmsley, Worston, Clitheroe. Next from Messrs Mares was a third lactation cow, which gave 11,828 litres in her second lactation, she sold for £2020 to producer retailer Hector Buckley, Denby Dale, Huddersfield.
