Picston Shottle sired cattle were the pick of the trade at last week’s Goostrey herd dispersal on behalf of Griffiths Farming, Malpas.
Taking the leading bid of 2700gns was August calved heifer Whinchat Shottle Treck which sold to G A G Evans and Son for their Trawscoed herd, Welshpool. She sold having been AI’d to Pinetree Captivator and descended from five generations of EX or VG cows.
At 2200gns was Wardle Shottle Marie Queen, a heifer which had recently completed her first lactation at 9385kg in 265 days and due in April to Mer Gold Autumn Son Red. She was bought by Cilwrgi Farm, Pontypool. And the same buyer bought another at the same money, this time, Wardle Loreenzo Dora, a two year old heifer by Lystel Lorenzo. Calved in October she was sold in-calve to Rubthorn Integrity.
Averages; 158 cows and heifers in milk and/or in-calf £1348.39, 12 barren cows £503.13, 22 served heifers £1203.68, 15 maiden heifers £833.70 (Gwilym Richards and Rostons).
