Grange Limousins sell to 18,000gns twice

A pair of 18,000gns bids for French bred animals were the pick of the day’s trading at the production sale of the Grange herd of Limousins today for George Smith and family.

Taking the first of these leading bids was Cirtouille, an October 2007-born first calver by Texan. Bred in France by GAEC de Champagnat and bought last year at the Grand Cru sale, she is out of Pagaie, a Jesus daughter and was sold having run with French sire Boileau since February. She was knocked down to an undisclosed buyer.Citrouille.JPGAt the same money was Cassie, a November 2007-born first calver by Arlequin and out of Tetine, a Minarais daughter. She was bought in 2009 at the Grand Cru sale and was bred by GAEC Le Lann. Again sold to an undisclosed buyer she had run with both Dolmen and Boileau.

Then the next best call of 6100gns was given for Boileau himself. This October 2006-born bull is by Voisin and out of Nandy, an Indigo daughter. Bred by Eric Rouzier, he was knocked down to NAS Johnson.

Selling at 5200gns was Grange Floreat, a Boileau daughter out of Grange Bacinella, a Serge daughter. This one was bought by R F Turner and Son.

And making 4500gns was Brockhurst Amelie, a Brockhurst Premier daughter out of Tamise, a Merlin daughter. This March 2005-born fourth calved sold with a Perit-sired heifer calf, Grange Galerie at foot and returned home to Messrs Mash’s Brockhurst herd.

The same bid secured one of the junior bulls Grange Fernando for J D Stephens. This March 2010-born bull is by Perit and out of Grange Tarashani, a Marquis daughter.

Following on at 4400gns was Grange Empress, an Abba daughter out of Grange Anchusa, a Perit daughter. She sold having run with both Epicier and Douglas and was bought by R F Turner and Son.

And making 4200gns was another of the young bulls Grange Fanshaw, a Boileau son out of Grange Baltique, a Perit daughter. He sold to R F Turner and Son.

Averages; two stock bulls £5197.50, three cows £8085, 10 young bulls £3696, 21 cows and calves £4020, 16 heifers £2861.25, one bull calf £3990, served/in-calf heifers £3425.63 (Harrison and Hetherington with Newark Livestock Market).
