Great Yorkshire interbreed beef title to Hereford

The interbreed beef title, judged by a panel of all the breed judges, has been awarded to the Hereford champion, Romany 1 Captain from Aileen and Stephen Nesbitt.TS GY Hereford  Champ.jpgThe couple run 35 Hereford cows at home in Buckinghamshire whereCaptain is stock bull for the herd. He is by Crickley 1 Figurehead andout of Romany 1 Julia. He was bought for the herd after standing juniorinterbreed at the Highland two years ago in a private deal for a figurein the region of £8000.Captain came to the Yorkshire fresh from his interbreed win at the Royal Highland, making it the second year in succession that the interbreed winner from Ingliston has followed through to win here at Harrogate.

Standing reserve was the Simmental champion from their National show held here, This was Boddington Estates with their cow Sterling Dolores Petra, a Sterling Flint daughter with calf at foot. The calf, Sterling Braveheart, is by Sterling Viking 2, last year’s Royal Show interbreed champion. Petra is one of 45 cows run in the Sterling herd at Cheltenham.TS GY Sim Champ.jpg
