Hallworthy dairy trade peaks at £2450

The January Show & Sale at Hallworthy Stockyard saw an amazing start to 2009.  A good quality entry met a packed ring of buyers, the cattle selling on a flying trade.  Freshly calved heifers sold to £2450 for a Haldrey Leadership daughter giving 30 Kgs, sold by Mark Davis of Tiverton, whose consignment of Holstein heifers averaged £2188.  


Mr P J Andrews of Sparkwell, Plympton saw heifers top at £2380.  Over half the entire entry of heifers realised over £2000.  The Overall Champion and First Prize Cow realised £2450 for “Beckwell Pippen Priscilla 6 GP83”, a 3rd calver giving 42 Kgs, sold on behalf of Messrs A & D Heyward of Coryton, Okehampton. 


A consignment of well bred In Calf Heifers from the “Trythance” herd on behalf of Mr JK Cardell of Laity, Helston, topped at £2150 and averaged £2057.  A consignment of bulling heifers from Messrs EV & BK Benney of Garras, Helston topped at £1080 and averaged £1024.
