Herefords top at 3,800gns at Society spring show and sale

Herefords topped at 3,800gns at the Hereford Society spring show and sale.

Leading trade was the reserve champion Baldinne 1 Furi from John A Cameron and Son, Leven, Fife. Sired by Dorepoll 1 499 Einsteine he is out of Baldinnie 1 Fiona 11th and carries a TSI and SRI of +22 and +27 respectively. Buyer was B and MJ Garbutt, Stokesley, Middlesborough.

Just shy of this at 3,700gns was his stablemate; the first prize Baldinnie 1 Katsuma. Sired by the same bull as the last lot he is out of a homebred dam and was bought by J Brown and Sons, Strathhaven, Lanarkshire.

Females topped at 4,000gns for Romany 1 Lily D1 L53 from JRB Wilson and Son, Kelso, Roxburghshire. Sired by the imported Danish bull of the year 2013 SMH Castro 0001 she is out of a Glenlees Storm dam.

Buyer was Paul Murphy, Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
