Holsworthy sheep trade remains strong

Kivells auctioneers of Holsworthy saw a blistering trade for the 400 cull ewes forward with a top of £66.50 for a run of Suffolk x Mule ewes bought by Willy Cleave of Highampton.

A nice run of Dorset ewes from Frank Grills saw plenty of attraction with the top end of his run selling well over the £60 mark. In the lamb pens a good entry of over 900 saw a slight reduction in trade, however, plenty of lambs sold between £65-£70.

Leading lamb trade were three smart pens of cross breed lambs from regular vendors Messrs Bellew of Abbotts Bickington and purchased by Hatherleigh based West Devon Meat Ltd for £75.
