The final sale to disperse the Holywood herd of Holsteins for Messrs Whiteford, saw the youngstock portion sold to a top price of 3000gns.
Taking this top price was Holywood Shottle Kaye, a Shottle daughter out of Stardale Fred Kaye, a Margene Blackstar Fred daughter which gave 14,989kg in her sixth lactation. this May 2008-born heifer was sold having been AI’d to Keystone Potter and was bought by W M Sloan and Co, Lochmaben, Lockerbie.
At 2700gns was Holywood Goldwyn Fleur, a Braedale Goldwyn daughter out of Bickleygate Outside Fleur. Born in March last year, this one sold to M Armstrong, Great Salkeld.
And at 2300gns was Holywood Shottle Dianne, a Shottle daughter out of Ridgefield Rudolph Dianne, a Startmore Rudolph daughter. Sold in calf to Keystone Potter, this one was snapped up by D R and H M Horsley, Catterlen, Penrith.
Selling for 2250gns was Holywood Shottle Tara, another by Shottle and this time out of Holywood Hermann Janice, a Honesberie Hermann daughter. Born in September 2008 she was sold having been AI’d to Bomaz Boulder and was bought by a and I Lamont.
Then at 2000gns was Holywood Shottle Bertha, a May 2008-born Shottle daughter out of Saxelby Manhattan Bertha. this one, AI’d to Autumn Ridge Matson in September sold to J Sharpe and Son, Lamplugh.
Bulk buyer of the day was Plumpton College, Lewes, Sussex, taking a total of 52 heifers, including at 1900gns Holywood Goldwyn Francisco, a March 2009-born Braedale Goldwyn daughter.
Averages; 105 in-calf heifers £1624.08, 77 bulling heifers £1214.32, 42 maiden heifers £1041.50 (Harrison and Hetherington).
