Irish Charolais record set

A new Irish Charolais breed record was set at the weekend when Cottage Devon, a Texan-Gie son was bought by the National Cattle Breeding Centre, Co Meath, at E24,000.

A September 2008-born calf, he is in the top 1% of the breed in Ireland for suckler beef value and weighed in at 865kg at 13 months old in October. The NCBC intend to have semen from Cottage for sale next spring.
