Jersey takes Dairy Show heifer title

The interbreed heifer title at today’s Dairy Show at the Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet, has gone to the Jersey heifer leader, Bluegrass Comericas Pink Heather from Barry and Jenny Daw, Hertfordshire. This March calved heifer is by Bridon Remake Comerica and is currently giving 24 litres a day. She was reserve interbreed heifer winner at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show.Heifer Interbreed Champ 316.jpg

Reserve spot was taken by the Holstein heifer champion, Richaven Shottle Squaw from Richard Bown, Worcestershire. This is a Picston Shottle daughter out of Richard’s highly successful Squaw family. She calved in June and has given 4200 litres in 103 days. She was nominated for the all Britain awards last year and has been flushed to Braedale Goldwyn once, giving 10 embryos.

Taking the Ayrshire heifer championship was Willhorne Thorn Flo 2, a Rosehill Blackthorn daughter from P and S Williams. In the Brown Swiss the heifer leader was Cancourt Sheila, a Webster Ridge TD daughter from M and J Hussey. Dairy Shorthorn heifer champion was Rodway Tiny 253, a Noremead Supreme Red daughter from G A Madeley. Across in the Guernsey classes the heifer champion was Blacknor Tania, a Cassidy daughter from Chettle Farm.
