In lamb Texels from the College flock make 3,200gns twice
In-lamb females from the Fox family’s pedigree College flock of Texels, Biggar, peaked at 3,200gns twice when they went under the hammer at Borderway mart this week (12 January).
First at this money was FHE1206241, a Stonefieldhill Incredible daughter out of a dam by Fachell Jolly. She sold in lamb to Brackenridge Strongbow and was the pick of Procter Farm, Clitheroe, Lancashire.
Procters Farm also purchased the joint top lot, a shearling gimmer by Grey Peel Rambo and out of a dam by Scrainwood Landmark. This one sold in lamb to Strongbow.
Third best call of 2,400gns was paid for the ewe FHE1105932, sired by Midlock Pavarotti and out of a dam by Stonefieldhill Jensen. She was the pick of RB Templeton, Strathaven, Lanarkshire, and was sold carrying to Strongbow too.
At the same money was the Strongbow daughter FHE1308533, out of a Fachell Jigsaw daughter and in-lamb to Cambwell Viceroy II. Buyer was Procters Farm.
They also purchased a fourth lot for 2,220gns. This was the shearling gimmer FHE1308542 by Strongbow and out of a dam by Stonefieldhill Jensen and in lamb to Viceroy II.
S Illingworth, Lockerbie, also paid 2,200gns for a gimmer by Strongbow out of a Pavarotti ewe and in lamb to Viceroy II.
Averages: 52 shearling gimmers, £1,027.79; 71 ewes, £1,003.42; 123 head, £1,013.72
