Lawson family lead trade at Craven dairy sale

Leading trade at this month’s Craven dairy auction was David and Claire Lawson’s pre-sale champion at £2,700.


The freshly calved heifer is a daughter of Bomax Boulder and sold to the day’s judge James Kayley, Halton West, giving 30 litres.

Selling at £2,180 was another consignment from the Lawson’s Newbirks herd, this time the first prize second calver by Ralma Focus. She was purchased by BH Wilson, Green Hammerton, giving 39 litres daily.


Next at £2180 was a Garrison daughter from Robert Crisp, Calton. She took the reserve rosette in the pre-sale show and joins Geoff Blezard, Ribchester, giving six and a half gallons.


Two freshly calved heifers from Laycock’s Sammy Sugden sold to BH Wilson for £1,940 and E Elis, Barnsley, for £1,900, respectively.


Selling at £1,900 to Paul Bolland, Airton, was a freshly calved heifer from Peter Baul, Bishop Thornton.


Wick Williams paid £1,530 for Ian Parkinson’s third prize cow, while a freshly calved Brown Swiss from David and Pauline Brown made £1,790 to the same buyer.
