Leek dairy trade sees £2,540 top

Dairy trade at Leek Auctions this week met a swift trade with prices peaking at £2,540 and the top 12 averaging £2,053.

Auctioneers, Bagshaws described a “phenomenal entry of 207”, which included the monthly pedigree sale and the Ayrshire herd dispersal on behalf of Mr Wilson Hart,

The top price at £2,540 was a Picston Shottle daughter shown by Judy Allen of Towcester, Northants, sold giving 24kg. She was eventually clinched by Mr J Fernyhough of Swythamley.

Wilowna Digital Kara 47 from Parkinson Partners of Admaston reached £2,300 by Sunny-Kruer Digital she boasted an 88 point dam that had given more than 10,200kg three times. She was sold giving 35kg and went to Mr Hulme of Basford.

Cows peaked at £2,140 for a third calver from Mr M Wainwright of Buxton with plenty of other heifers between £1,800-£2,000.
