Limousin cross heifer smashes record at Newport

A Limousin cross heifer set a new Centre record when she sold for £3600 at Newport Market Auctioneers Christmas Primestock show and sale, Abergavenny last week.

Presented by E G and L M Cadogan, Usk, the heifer smashed all previous records by a considerable margin. Weighing in at 624kg, this one had previously won the Heavy Weight Heifer class before going on to take the overall Championship.

She was purchased by a longstanding stalwart of the Winter Primestock Shows, Doug Willis, Cwmbran on behalf of the Celtic Manor Hotel, Newport.

Mr Willis is no stranger to purchasing top quality beef for his chain of retail butchers shops in Cwmbran and Llanyravon together with a substantial catering operation, also in Cwmbran.
