Limousin females peak at 3,100gns at North West Club sale


Limousin females peaked at 3,100gns at the North West Limousin Club spring sale.


Top price went to the five-year-old cow Ringway Edith from PJ Henshall, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie. Sired by Tatoumh she is out of the Cloughhead Rocket daughter Ringway Urania and sold with her seven month old heifer calf by Ringway Foggy at foot and back in to the same bull. The outfit was knocked down to GH Walton and Sons, Hexham, Northumberland.


Second best with a bid of 2,900gns was Ironstone Fluff, from the reduction sale of A and S Ryder, Blackford, Carlisle. This May 2010 born cow is sired by Seigneur and sold with her Ronick Hawk heifer calf at foot and back in calf to Annanwater Darwin. Buyer was A Woodburn and Son, Cumnock, Ayrshire.


AC Simpson, Hope Valley, Derbyshire, paid 2,600gns for the Angiean Girlybird from IK and AM Grisedale, Milnthorpe, Cumbria. Sired by the Ravageur won Normande Austin she is out of the Ampertaine Bravo daughter Goldies Dollybird and sold with her Wildoge Tonka sired bull calf at foot.


Just shy of this at 2,500gns was another from the Ryder reduction. Shielddrigg Farah is sired by the Mas Du Clo son Tehix and sold in calf to either Carmorn Dauphon or their stock bull Annanwater Darwin.


Averages: Ryder reduction of eight cows and heifers served/suckling, £2,222; three served and maiden heifers, £1,441. Other females, three cows served or suckling, £2,765.
