Limousin trade strong for two herd dispersals

A collection of quality Limousin genetics were on offer at Carlisle last week including a selection of heifers from the Cloughhead prefix of George Hutton, Keswick, Cumbria.

Topping this sale was Cloughhead Anna, the first offering from Cloughhead Uist that sold in Carlisle in May 2005 for 10,000gns. She now joins Allanton farming, Ayrshire.

The day also saw the dispersal of the Archena herd from A Hawkshaw, Ayrshire, along with the Longoaks herd of D M Joseph, Swansea. Both herds sold well topping 3000gns and 2700gns, respectively.

For the Archena herd it was the december 2006 bull Archena Barney which sold for 3000gns to J E Jordan and Son, Morpeth, Northumberland. By Ryedale Paragon, he is out of a home bred cow.

For the Longoaks herd it was the stock bull Sheelin Tiger that took the highest call of 2700gns. With an impressive show career behind him, this Ronick Hawk son out of Sheelin Jan has done a good job on the herd breeding some quality female replacements and now joins Messrs Adam, Ardfern, Lochgilphead.Sale averages:
